I'd read of but hadn't heard Animal Collective, and was astonished to find Feels at the Jefferson Market branch of the New York Public Library. On first listen, I think this has a good chance of ending up on my 99 albums list as one of the two 2005 entries.

They have the spirit of the Incredible String Band in them.

I love love love Animal Collective. Feels (from 2005, not 1995) is definitely wonderful. Of their other albums, I particularly love the first one, Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They're Vanished, and Here Comes the Indian... And if you have an opportunity to catch them live, I highly recommend doing so. I don't know how they do what they do, but it's a beautiful thing.

Meanwhile, I've never listened to the Incredible String Band... what's a good entry point for them?

D'oh, thanks for the correction!

The third album, The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, is a good place to begin to get the whole flavor of the Incredible String Band, though the second album, The 500 Spirits or The Layers of the Onion, is less weird, less sprawling, and still excellent. Warning: many people find the vocals hard to take.
