The New York Public Library has put a big "YA" sticker on Jens Lekman's album When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog.

By the way, I suppose it has been much mentioned how much he sometimes sounds like Stephin Merritt? e.g., on "Julie".

Awww! (Which is what I say anytime anyone says Jens Lekman.) I think that's really appropriate.

And yes to the Stephin Merritt. I think he's like him in more ways than just the voice, too.

I'm a little embarrassed now to see that just about every fucking review on rateyourmusic.com (to take one example) mentions Merritt.

One apparent difference is that Merritt (I think) has more distance from his material (a la Randy Newman) while Lekman sounds like he lives in his songs.
