I don't know "Dumb It Down," but I have trouble imagining anything by The Divine Comedy being "bleak." Or even depressing, really, at least not in the way that, f'rinstance, Richard and Linda Thompson could be depressing. Now there's bleak.

True, and it's one of the ways I'm going to have to tweak the mix. "Dumb It Down" is a bitter indictment, and is bleak in that sense, but it's true that it doesn't feel like a personal bleakness, like the kind of thing that makes one contemplate suicide or anything.
