Funny thing is, he describes me pretty well, except that I'm not a paid music critic claiming to be hip to everything. I did formerly have pretense to attempting to be aware of All That Is Good, but I definitely did not hear certain frequencies.
Incidentally, he's right that Kerosene is better than (the perfectly fine) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I was wondering why no else seemed to think so...
(By the way, your link to me actually links to Pretty Goes With Pretty...)

Whoops! I'll fix that.
It describes me, too. In my meager defense, I'm still learning about old country music; in my even worse defense, I'm pretty bad at keeping up with hip hop too, or even at keeping up with current radio-pop music. Of course, I'm not a professional critic.

I remember noticing that there'd often be that one rap record, or that one country record (never Nashville country, but Steve Earle or Jimmie Dale Gilmore, both of whom I love, but still), that would make, say, Spin's year-end lists, while all kinds of indie rock albums (again, plenty of which I liked) clogged 'em up. Skewed lists that produced skewed listeners who grow up to be the next generation's skewed critics, however much they may try to be open to it all...
