parlando playlist introduction

Okay! I finally got it.

Today I'm going to introduce Parlando Songs (a really lousy name; please, come up with a better one!). [Gavin came up with a better one in the comments: Parlando Playlist.] Every day I'm going to post a song, maybe two; they're going to be up for a week, then they're going to be gone. So every day (once it gets going), there will be seven to eleven songs grouped in a page called "●● parlando songs ●●" at the Parlando home page.

[edit: For now, I think a little bit longer, like ten days. I may settle on two weeks.]

The introductory post will just be the song, pretty much, and the title and who did it and the year it's from (maybe a pointer to lyrics), etc. It will definitely not be the genre it's from. For one thing, in my opinion that's often misleading, but also it's taking the fun out of it. (Well, for me.) I know that ninety percent of people are going to skip Parlando Songs (please, come up with a better name!), but the ten percent who listen probably would shrug about genre. (Right? Right.) I will happily discuss songs in comments (even genres).

And if nobody wants to discuss the songs, that's fine; really, half of the reason I've started Parlando again was just playing DJ.

I'll think it over; the best I have so far is "Musical Notes." (Ehh.)

There's nothing wrong with "Parlando Songs." But if you want to alliterate, you could call it "The Parlando Playlist."

My only suggestion is that if you have some personal connection to the song--you vividly remember the circumstances when you heard it for the first time, for example--it would be wonderful if you shared that up top.

Parlando Playlist is good.

Mostly, though, I probably don't want to settle on Parlando Anything. Something way different. I know that's really unhelpful.

Trying to come at it backwards: why is this place called Parlando?

It's Italian, mostly as an instruction, meaning music meant to be performed as speech.

I think you're probably going to have to come up with this yourself--you likely need the sort of joke that won't feel right from elsewhere.

But my suggestion is Recitation Rotation.

Or Frontal Lobe Favorites.

I like both of those!

Unfortunately, I can't come up with jokes anymore -- or any language-things like jokes. Probably I'll have to wait till my mind comes up with one, without having to try.

Well, that is how my mind came up with language-things before, isn't it? It just was easy, I guess. Actually, I really don't know. It was easy; now it's hard.... [drifting]
