parlando playlist #44: antena - frantz [1982-2004]

Antena was first a French-Belgian synth pop trio, with one admired album on Crépuscule*, Camino del sol [1982]. Then Isabelle Antena went solo, with many albums since.

"Frantz" was an unreleased demo later included on the 2004 Camino del sol reissue.

Camino del sol is like Young Marble Giants with a little bit of bossa nova.

I used to have a few Les Disques du Crépuscule CDs -- some early Hector Zazou.

I don't have any Zazou on Crépuscule. I do have some Zazou on Crammed Discs, which is another Belgian avant-garde label! (Well, at least I have some Zazou on Made to Measure, which I think is owned by Crammed....)

I stand corrected. I used to have "Reivax au Congo" and some other very early stuff, but don't any more. I have "Sahara Blue" and "Songs from the Cold Seas" and "Blanc et Noir".

I'm probably completely misremembering then.

No, I wasn't correcting you! For all I know, you are right. (There are lots of Crépuscule records, and lots of Zazou records, that I don't have.)

YMG with a taste of bossa nova is just right. Likable, although it didn't stick with me.
