Joan Armatrading's self-titled album is great all the way through. It's definitely one of my fifty top albums; probably one of my twenty-five. "Love and Affection" is one of her three or four famous-ish ones, if you've heard any of hers. But maybe you haven't heard it. If one person ends up loving it through Parlando....

That's lovely. I never felt any passion for J.A. previously--like many people, I came to her backwards via Tracy Chapman, who also didn't deeply move me--but I will check out the album.

To me, this album is the great JA album; none of them is even close. (Velma disagrees fiercely; not with the first opinion, maybe, but definitely with the second opinion.)

But I like her, and she's now developed quite a song list in her career. Every show is a delight. I think you'd almost definitely like her self-titled album.
