Milwaukee's James Chance, after he moved to New York, was a No Wave pioneer. "Irresistible Impulse" was from Sax Maniac, essentially his third (studio) album* (1979's seminal Buy the Contortions and James White and The Blacks' [also 1979] Off White were his first two). Issued by Animal Records, a sub-label for Chrysalis.

By 1982, Chance had spread out from No Wave to funk, jazz, and disco, though his sax playing was still No Wave.

* Though he had two previous live albums, one an ROIR cassette, and one a French musician's cooperative, SCOPA Invisible Records, that I never saw.
